Built in 1887, this grand old dame of Singapore's hotels is located next to the mammoth Raffles City. As one of the world's most famous 19th-century hotels, it is the birthplace of the legendary Singapore Sling cocktail, and distinguished writers such as Joseph Conrad and Somerset Maugham had all stayed here. Extensively renovated in the late 1980s, the Raffles Hotel still retain a luxuious old world charm.
